The Government has released a Press Release announcing that Goods and Services Tax (GST) collections for October 2025 stood at ₹1,95,936 crore, marking a 4.6% year-on-year growth compared to October 2024.

1. Growth Drivers

The increase in revenue has been primarily attributed to:

  • Higher domestic GST collections, reflecting stronger consumption trends
  • Rise in IGST collected on imports, indicating increased import activity
  • Improved compliance behaviour by taxpayers

2. Cumulative Collections Cross ₹10.40 Lakh Crore

For the period October 2024 to October 2025, the overall GST revenue has risen to ₹10,40,055 crore. This sustained growth highlights:

  • Continued momentum in economic activity
  • Strong festive season demand
  • Better tax administration and digital monitoring

3. Key Takeaway

The consistent rise in GST collections signals resilience and recovery in India’s economy, alongside strengthening taxpayer compliance and enforcement measures under the GST regime.
